Completing your enrollment is just the beginning. Below you'll find additional deadlines to meet over the spring and summer. Check back frequently: dates relevant to orientation programs will be posted as they become available.

Enrollment deposit due

Submit a nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $500 to reserve your space (this is applied to your first tuition bill). To pay your deposit by credit card or to authorize a bank transfer from your checking or savings account, please use the link below to go to our secure online site. You’ll need to indicate your name, RISD student ID number and the semester you will enroll (as indicated in your acceptance letter). All future tuition bills and other fees can be paid at this site as well.

If you are unable to submit payment online, please contact Admissions to arrange an alternative payment method.

Housing portal opens

Complete a housing application via the Housing Portal if you wish to live in RISD housing. You'll need a user name and password to enter this site—both will be emailed to you upon receipt of your enrollment deposit.

ID card photo deadline (for summer program participants)

Please submit a photo that meets the following requirements to Card Services:

  • A clear, high-quality photo with a plain light-colored background
  • A front view of your whole face alone
  • Taken within the last three months
  • No hat or dark glasses
  • JPEG format

Transcript due (for summer program participants)

If you are participating in one of our summer programs, you must confirm the satisfactory completion of your undergraduate education by arranging for your final, official transcript to be sent to Admissions by June 1.

Health forms due (for summer programs)

RISD Health Services requires all new students to submit health forms. Please be aware that your registration is not considered complete until your completed and signed forms have been received by Health Services. Students who have not submitted completed health forms will not be able to receive their course schedule and begin attending classes.

Students enrolled in the RISD/DIS course must arrive a day before the program begins.

MA in Adaptive Reuse off-campus summer program begins

Students pursuing an MA in Adaptive Reuse begin their graduate studies by participating in a summer program run by RISD and the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Residence halls open for MArch and MDes summer programs/summer program orientation begins

On-campus accommodations open to students participating in the MArch and MDes programs. Summer program orientation begins for MArch and MDes students (check back for a detailed orientation schedule).

Summer program orientation ends (for MArch and MDes students)

Students participating in the MArch and MDes summer programs must attend summer orientation (and, later in the summer, Graduate Orientation for all incoming grad students).

Programs run through July 26.

Health insurance waiver deadline (for summer programs)

The summer health insurance waiver is optional and only for those students enrolled in summer programs who do not want to participate in RISD's health insurance plan. Information about immunization requirements can be found through RISD Health Services.

Class begins July 30. For students participating in Design Foundation/Field Ecology program only, residence halls open Sunday, August 4.

Course ends August 2.

RISD Weekend

Running through October 13, RISD Weekend brings alumni, parents, students and friends to campus for an inspiring celebration of everything that makes RISD extraordinary—the people, the studios, the discourse, the work. The two and a half days feature a special mix of exhibitions, panels, talks, tours and demonstrations—along with plenty of other opportunities to engage with the campus and its incredible mix of artists and designers.
