v.1

v.1 is RISD's graduate student-led publication. While always keeping the title “volume 1,” its form and content change from year to year. v.1 establishes an interdisciplinary community of conversation that surfaces and documents ideas, themes, discussions, debates, work and aspirations of graduate study at RISD while they are fresh. Creating a representative, open and generous window into the practices of current graduate students, this work also contributes to the wider public discourse around art and design. Many of the essays and examples of student work on this site were first published in the 2016 issue of v.1.
