International student info
Because several graduate programs kick off with summer study, the day on which students must report to campus varies by department. Below are key dates for international students to be aware of as they make travel arrangements.

International Student Orientation (pre-fall) begins
All participating international students (including those who participated in summer study) must be on campus for pre-fall orientation (see descripton below).
International Student Orientation
Held in August prior to general orientation for all graduate students, International Student Orientation is mandatory for those new students who require a visa to study in the US. Parents/families of international graduate students are also invited to attend a concurrent orientation program.
If you do not require a visa but consider yourself part of the international student community and would like to attend this orientation please email orientation@risd.edu. Check back for a detailed schedule.

Office of International Student Services
As advocates for RISD’s international community, the Office of International Student Services (OISS) offers support and services with immigration compliance, cultural and language adjustment and navigating US systems. OISS also coordinates and provides information about International Student Orientation, which is held in the fall and assists students in finding the campus resources they need. OISS strives to help international students become integrated into the RISD community and make the most of their experiences here.
