Discover Interior Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design

At the intersection of architecture, conservation and design, Interior Architecture takes an innovative approach to the reuse and transformation of existing buildings. Focusing on adaptive reuse in all its forms, grad students perform transformative interventions while learning to understand the design of buildings from inside out.

Three unique master's programs

RISD's advanced degree programs in Interior Architecture include a Master of Arts (MA) in Adaptive Reuse and a Master of Design (MDes) specializing in either Adaptive Reuse or Exhibition and Narrative Environments.

In the 2-year+ MDes programs, students learn a wide range of design approaches while focusing on a wide range of spaces, from domestic, retail and exhibition design to issues of preservation and conservation. For those with previous degrees in architecture, the 1-year+ MA program provides a unique specialist design education focusing on socially and environmentally responsible design practices.
